Humbled Daily

2 Corinthians 4:17-18

English Standard Version

“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

Cancer has humbled me in so many ways. As a lifelong athlete the ability to move quickly and with coordination was a gift I never fully appreciated until now. Movement is a blessing and should be treated as such.

Another seemingly mundane daily task that has proven difficult during treatment is eating. Finding foods that agree with my stomach and the treatment is a constant experiment. I have never put so much thought into how my body will respond to something I eat.

I knew this road to victory wouldn’t be without challenges however it’s one thing to know the challenges are coming it’s another to walk through them daily. However, my spirit is lifted by all the support and I know these momentary afflictions are building my ability to be more empathetic. Praying for all those fighting the good fight today.
