Thank you Lord for my cancer glioblastoma
James 1:2-12 Trials and Temptations
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do…Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
I would have never guessed that I would be thanking God for a Brain cancer diagnosis. I understand how unnerving reading the title of this blog post could be. Rest assured it’s ok to be uncomfortable. However, knowing one of the Devil’s biggest tricks is to keep us locked in a cycle of fear, a clear path to freedom from fear of anything you are facing is to worship as Job did.
Today that’s exactly where I find myself on my faith walk. On my road to victory to receive my crown of life as highlighted in the book of James, it’s clear to me that God is working to better me through this challenge.
My faith has grown in ways I could not have anticipated. I feel I am becoming a better father, husband, son, brother, cousin, nephew, friend, honestly the list goes on. There is so much I have held onto in each of the aforementioned roles that I have been able to release or remedy because the door has been opened by my cancer diagnosis.
As I walk this out I ask all those who support me to consider the power of thanking God for the challenge you are currently facing. While thanking the Lord be at peace that the outcome will be for your overall good. If you need any encouragement please feel free to reach out to me as I am happy to pray with you and for you.
