This is essential to the advancement of science because the ring-reactive species are the most common agents in organic synthesis and their importance is growing. The importance of ring-reactive species as elements is demonstrated by the fact that no elements are non-reactive with rings and that the diversity of ring-reactive elements is greater than that of any other class of elements. The ring-reactive elements have great importance in the development of industries that employ transition metals, including the manufacture of alloys, semiconductors, and catalysts.
